Weight Loss Pills and My Aunt Velma

Tag: Weight Loss Infoadmin @ 5:18 am

Once my Aunt Velma became aware of the importance of men in her life, it has been her mission to find perfect weight loss pills that would make her body more “appealing” and finally allow her to say her life is complete. So it is no wonder then that every time she hears of a brand new line of weight loss pills, a flicker of hope stirs in her earnest heart.

You see, my Aunt Velma has been trying to lose weight for most of her adult life as far as I can remember. She has experimented with almost all of the weight loss pills known to man that promised her a makeover that prayers alone can’t deliver. Unfortunately, none of the weight loss pills had worked but she is not about to throw in the towel. Not until she finds THAT man. Not even when some of them gave her side effects that she summarily describes as “eeew”.

With genuine concern for my aunt (she is after all a blood relative), I took it upon myself to lecture my dear aunt on the basics of weight loss pills.  And the weight loss pills 101 lecture over the telephone went something like this:

I told her that the first thing she should do is to check whether the weight loss pills she currently fancies are genuine. Meaning, have the pills undergone laboratory tests? Have the products been approved by an agency, an organization or any governing body? I told her to be wary of the marketing ploys employed by the shrewd weight loss product companies for they know how desperate she and her lot.

Then I advised her to do her own research and learn more about the products on the Internet.  And to look for testimonials or what other people are saying about them.  It’s always a good thing to know that the products exist and that people actually have tried them.

And I saved the best advice for last. I told Aunt Velma to, as much as possible, prefer the natural products. Adverse reactions to natural products are mostly nonexistent and they are generally non-habit forming.  She agreed to this advice the most after I informed her that unnatural weight loss pills’ side effects may vary from skin eruptions to more serious conditions like stomach ulcers.

Before I put down the phone, I told my Aunt Velma that different weight loss pills work differently. There are appetite suppressants, fat binders and those that promote the conversion of fat into energy.

I just hope that Aunt Velma realized that my lecture about weight loss pills will be all for naught if she forgets to exercise and control her diet and rely on popping weight loss pills completely. Oh I guess I’d better call her again.
